Faithless pay tribute to Maxi Jazz on new single, ‘I’m Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)’: Listen
Faithless’ new single pays tribute to the group’s late vocalist Maxi Jazz. Listen to ‘I’m Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)’ below.
Built around the vocals of their longtime Leeds-based collaborator LSK, the track is described as “a paen to some of the greats who have passed” with Maxi Jazz, who died in 2022, included among those figures. You can listen to the song below.
The single, out today (Friday, 30th August), arrives on the eve of the 26th anniversary of Faithless putting out classic single ‘God Is A DJ’, which included vocals by Jazz. Additional dancefloor-oriented mixes of the new single are set to follow at a later date.
Earlier this summer, Faithless shared another new single called ‘Find A Way’, featuring Suli Breaks, which is also taken from their forthcoming eighth record, ‘Champion Sound’.
Faithless will follow the release of ‘I’m Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)’, as well as their recent first live shows in eight years (which took in an appearance at Glastonbury), with an extensive UK and European tour through November and December. The 21-date run of shows will include a homecoming appearance at O2 Academy Brixton in London – the full list of gigs can be found here.
Founding member Sister Bliss spoke about the challenges of returning to the stage in an interview with DJ Mag earlier this year. “Obviously [Maxi] won’t be there with us, but he’ll be there in spirit, and so the whole thing is a very new and different thing for us. I really hope people are going to get stuck in and dance, and really lose themselves in the music, because that’s what people have always done at a Faithless gig.”
