Europe’s oldest nightclub, La Paloma, reopens in Barcelona
La Paloma, Barcelona’s historic ballroom and Europe’s oldest nightclub, has reopened with an autumn programme featuring Theo Parrish, Antal, Nightmares On Wax, Hot Chip, and more.
After several years of closure, the venue – which was originally opened in 1903 – has been gradually reopening over the last 18 months. Located between Sant Antoni and Raval, the 1,000-capacity club has hosted major names this year, including François K, Gilles Peterson, and David Rodigan.
The September line-up includes performances from Antal, Machinedrum (live), and a back-to-back all-night set from Danilo Plessow and Hugo LX. Regular events by Barcelona’s Mainline Collective and the vibrant queer night Loco Bingo will continue their residencies.
In October, the club will see sets from Egyptian Lover, Luke Una, Mr. Bongo, and Ruby Savage, with Glove Party joining the Saturday schedule. Friday nights will feature performances by Weval, GAZZI, and Chico Blanco, with local collectives PPL United, Mainline Collective, and ODD CLUB also hosting events.
Looking ahead to November, the programme will feature all-night sets from Theo Parrish, Bradley Zero, and the Toy Tonics DJs. Nightmares On Wax and Hot Chip DJs are also confirmed for the month, as the club shifts to a ‘tardeo’ schedule for winter, running from 19:30 to 02:00. Local crews Poly Ritmo Club, Mainline Collective, and Jokkoo Collective will also have dates during this period.
La Paloma’s baroque-style interior, featuring rich red and gold details, has been carefully maintained since 1919. The club offers booth seating at both dancefloor level and on the balcony, allowing guests to take in the atmosphere from multiple vantage points.
