Eric Prydz Holosphere 2.0 docuseries highlights Ibiza’s “biggest show production”: Watch

Eric Prydz has launched a new Holosphere 2.0 docuseries, taking fans behind the scenes of Ibiza’s “biggest show production” ever.

Six years in the making, the spectacular audiovisual DJ performance has been taking place weekly at the island’s newest club, [UNVRS], since the beginning of this month. See some clips from the opening event in Prydz’s residency here.

Three short documentary episodes will give fans a rare opportunity to see the work that has gone into creating the show, from initial concept to the live experience itself. The first episode, titled Building The Sphere, is available to watch on Youtube now.

Utilising the venue’s state-of-the-art lighting and sound, Holosphere 2.0 weaves custom animation, multiple LED layers and 3D holographic effects into its jawdropping spectacle. A team of visual artists, including VFX specialist GMUNK, are involved, capturing 360° images such as crystal orbs, burning glass and plasma balls.

These standalone “digital sculptures” are then texture mapped onto a central eight metre tall, eight tonne spherical centrepiece, which the production team has described as striking “a razor-thin balance between engineering-grade strength and near-total transparency.”

“This show, the technology and the size of it has never been done before, ever,” Prydz said in a statement. “This is what we always dreamed of.”

Speaking about Holosphere 2.0, [UNVRS] Ibiza and The Night League’s Yann Pissenem said: “Eric Prydz possesses an extraordinary vision and talent for crafting otherworldly experiences—pushing the boundaries of innovation with every show. With Holosphere 2.0, he has reached an entirely new level, seamlessly blending cutting-edge technology with an ambitious scale like never before. I can’t wait to present this new chapter of Eric Prydz at [UNVRS], where audiences will witness something truly unprecedented—transforming this residency into a one-of-a-kind future-forward show that will redefine the global audiovisual experience in 2025.”

Carl Cox launched his residency at [UNVRS] Ibiza last week. Read our interview with him about it here.
