East London queer venue The Glory to close at current location due to redevelopment

East London queer venue The Glory is having to leave its current East London premises after nine years due to redevelopment plans.

The LGBTQIA+ venue must leave its current building by 31st January, 2024, with the news being confirmed this week by the venue’s founding trio of drag queens Jonny Woo and John Sizzle, and business partner Colin Rothbart.

“After nine years here, it would be devastating if this were a last goodbye,” a post confirming the closure read. “But we have the keys to a new space close by and this brand-new venture will open before spring.”

The Glory will host a number of special Christmas and New Year events in the run-up to the closure at its current premises. It’s not yet known where exactly the new venture will be situated.
