DJ Oh Annie Oh launches podcast, Don’t Call Me “Exotic”: Listen

News

London-based DJ, radio presenter and promoter Oh Annie Oh has launched a new, six-part podcast series.

Imagined during lockdown, Don’t Call Me “Exotic” is described as a response to the rise in anti-Asian hate, before evolving into a wider conversation between the Seoul-born, Toronto-raised artist alongside fellow creatives.

Featuring various guest DJs, musicians, label managers and more, the series finds Annie leading chats on creativity, the industry, and how individuals navigate their careers in the midst of continuing racism.

Speaking about the series, Oh Annie Oh said: “Don’t Call Me “Exotic” is an open conversation about what it is like to work as a creative, whilst also living within societal systematic racism – a dialogue that I wish I had access to during the rise in anti-Asian hate, but that didn’t exist. So I decided to start it.”

Three episodes of the series are currently available to stream. Featuring London-singer-songwriter Amahla, stream episode 1 below.

Earlier this year, a new podcast exploring South Asian representation and contributions to the UK music industry was launched.
