DJ Clent releases new EP in tribute to his late mother, Chicago DJ Natalie Hill: Listen

DJ Clent has released a new EP in tribute to his late mother, Chicago DJ Natalie Hill.

‘#LongLiveMamaHill’ comprises five tracks from the footwork figurehead and pays homage to Hill, who passed away in January and was a key part of Chicago’s dance music scene in the ’70s and ’80s, when she began DJing as the Boosty Collins-inspired Chocolate Star. She later worked as a secretary for a local record pool called NDJA.

Clent told the Quietus in 2017 that his mother’s record collection provided the basis of many samples for his work. Listen to ‘#LongLiveMamaHill’ via Bandcamp below.

The EP follows Clent’s 2022 EPs ‘Last Bus To Lake Park’ and ‘WHICH MACHINE TO USE’.

In 2021, DJ Clent joined Traxman and RP Boo for an online workshop series on footwork and juke production, Chicago Footworkology Music Edition, presented by Creation Global.
