Clubs have reopened in Perth with minimal social distancing measures.

Clubs in the Western Australian city of Perth have been able to reopen this last weekend, as the state moves into the fourth phase of reopening following the coronavirus pandemic. A two-square-metre rule — which requires venues to provide two square metres of floor space per person at a minimum — remains in place.

On July 18th, the two-square-metre rule will be dropped completely, although clubbers will still be encouraged to keep their distance from others.

Official reports from the Australian State on Monday revealed that only five people currently in WA have COVID-19, and all of those infected are in hotel quarantine. 

Many venues globally still remain closed, with countries unable to return to normality following spikes in COVID-19 cases. In the UK, it’s been three months since prime minister Boris Johnson officially ordered a list of venues, which included clubs, pubs, bars, food and drink venues, theatres, and concert halls, to close their doors due to the coronavirus pandemic. The UK’s communities secretary, Robert Jenrick, initially said that the restriction would be in place for 14 days before review, and venues have been remained shuttered since.
