Club events fundraising for Ukraine to take place this month
A number of club events raising money for organisations supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine amid Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of the country are set to take place over the coming weeks.
In London, Worldwide FM will join forces with Keep Hush at Corsica Studios on Wednesday 9th March in support of War Child UK, where Borge, Channel One, Gilles Peterson, Muva of Earth live, Papaoul, and Rabiah, will be hosted by Esk.
Also in the capital, The Pickle Factory has announced two dates. The first sees Shanti Celeste b2b Moxie, Dr Banana b2b Jossy Mitsu, and Hamish & Toby play on Thursday 10th March. Sunday 13th then sees Nicolas Lutz joined by Jane Fitz b2b Carl H and Junki Inoue. Proceeds will go to Phoenix Wings, which provides non-lethal equipment and supplies to the Ukrainian army, and humanitarian organisation SOS Ukraina.
The Pickle Factory will also host a joint Ukraine and Yemen fundraiser on 17th March, with Manuka Honey, Lil C, Raw Silk, Michelle Manetti, Tash LC, Shannen SP, and more. Funds this time go to War Child.
In Brighton, Drop Beats Not Bombs will take over The Arch on Sunday 13th March, with DJs — still to be announced — playing three tracks each b2b throughout the day. Proceeds will be donate to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
On 14th April, Manchester’s Hidden will present Sounds of Manchester in aid of British Red Cross, Save the Children & UNICEF. Local promoters Zutekh!, Homoelectric, Meat Free, Kiss Me Again, Mixing Mates, Animal Crossing, Freak Queer Rave, Frixxxion, The Warehouse Project, and High Hoops are all involved.
Outside the UK, Berlin’s WHOLE Festival has announced plans for #STANDWITHUKRAINE event at Wiesenweg this Saturday 5th March, with an emphasis on assisting “those having difficultly crossing the border due to sexual identity, gender identity, and anti-Blackness”.
Dublin’s Centre Point also have a session this Saturday 5th March in aid of the Ukrainian Red Cross and Scoop Foundation. Sunil Sharpe, Nialler9, DJ Deece, Claire Beck, Marcus O’Laoire, R3D’s House, and District Mag DJs are on the bill.
On 9th March, Culture Box in Copenhagen will hold a Dance to Donate event with all profits going to Red Cross’ work in Ukraine and around its boarders to help civilians.
These are in addition to events and campaigns already confirmed by the likes of R3 Soundsystem, EartH and space.289, among other venues.
