Charlotte de Witte launches soy sauce brand, Tears of Soy

Charlotte de Witte has launched a new brand of soy sauce, Tears of Soy.

The Belgian techno star made the announcement on social media this week, explaining the hop-based product came about after she spontaneously contacted soy sauce brand Tomasu.

The independent soy sauce brewery, based in Rotterdam and run by BoerBakkerBert BV, worked with her to develop a recipe linking the traditional Chinese condiment, Belgian beer culture and heritage. A launch was held at Flanders Expo, the venue also used for the first of her new KNTXT Konnected parties focused on back-to-back sets.

“People who know me well know I have a slight addiction for soy sauce,” de Witte admitted. “Together we have created a hop based soy sauce. A premium product that has a strong connection with the Belgian beer culture and Belgian heritage.”

This summer, de Witte is confirmed to play a number of high profile festivals, including Movement Detroit in late May and London’s Junction 2 in July.
