Charlotte de Witte announces self-titled debut album and first single, ‘The Realm’
Charlotte de Witte has announced that her self-titled debut album is coming later this year. The album is due for release on 7th November via her own KNTXT imprint.
“After 15 years of DJing, travelling, and living life through music, releasing my debut album feels surreal”, de Witte said. “This album is the most personal project I’ve ever worked on. It’s not just a collection of tracks, it’s a reflection of who I am, where I come from, and what continues to drive me: the dancefloor.
“Across eleven tracks, this album tells the story of my journey in music so far. Every sound, every transition, is intentional. I followed what felt right, what moved me. And that honesty is what makes this album so special to me. It’s raw. It’s real. It’s emotional. It’s who I am.”
To mark the album’s announcement, de Witte will share the lead track, ‘The Realm’, on 10th April. Regularly opening the artist’s DJ sets recently, the single draws on elements of fiery techno and acid. Listen to a snippet from the track below.
“This opening track of the album is an invitation. A doorway into the unknown, into this world I’ve been building through sound,” de Witte shared on Instagram this afternoon (31st March). “I’m so excited to finally share this first glimpse of the album, and I can’t wait for people to step into this next phase with me
The Belgian DJ and producer’s KNTXT imprint also encapsulates a radio show and global party series. Last year, de Witte was voted the World’s No.1 Techno DJ in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll.
Earlier this year, de Witte teamed up with fellow Belgian star Amelie Lens for two b2b shows at Flanders Expo in Ghent. “It feels incredibly right to join forces with Amelie,” de Witte shared ahead of the event. “Our paths have crossed many, many times and it’s been fantastic to see us both grow in this ever changing techno scene.”
Last year, the artist launched a new label dedicated to Belgian dance music history, Époque. The first release on the label was a remix of Push’s iconic trance anthem, ‘Universal Nation’, by Charlotte de Witte herself.
