Carl Cox has urged fans to get vaccinated against coronavirus in a new interview.
Following the announcement last month that proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for entry into nightclubs in England from the end of September, Carl Cox has appeared in an NHS video to discuss the importance of vaccination and how it supports the UK’s nightlife sector.
Speaking to Dr Kishan Bodalia, Coxy said: “My whole life existence over the last 30 years has been entertaining people in small clubs, in bars and wine bars and big clubs and festivals alike. What I do, it creates a gathering of people. So that’s what I’d like to see happen more than anything, that we can basically all be safe in knowing that we’re going out to party safe and enjoy ourselves.
“We are in a pandemic. This is something that we are all trying to deal with and all trying to work on and what we don’t want is the clubs to not work. At the end of the day, we are all on the frontline now. So, it’s the only thing we can do to protect ourselves, to be able to enjoy our moments.”
While there is no legal obligation as yet for venues to ask visitors to present a negative test, many clubs have been implementing their own policies for entry to ensure events are safe. London clubs including The Cause and Corsica Studios currently require that visitors present proof of a negative test from within 48 hours of entry. Pickle Factory and Oval Space have been checking guests’ temperatures on the door, while encouraging people to take a test prior to events.
Last week, there were 191,019 new positive cases of coronavirues recorded across the UK, an increase of 1.9% compared to the previous 7 days.

Elsewhere, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio recently announced that New York clubs will require proof of at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine for entry from 16th August, with rules set to be enforced from 13th September 2021.
