Burning Man creates new live virtual events platform, Kindling

News

Burning Man Project, the wider non-profit behind the annual festival, has launched a new live virtual events platform, Kindling.

Kindling is described as “a new portal for exploring Burning Man culture through participation in live virtual events” and will serve as the alternative digital space to the festival itself, which was cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. “Since we can’t gather in person, Kindling is your space to explore live experiences being created by instigators in the BMan community and beyond,” reads an official statement from organisers.

Across five “actions” presented on the site – Gather, Experience, Play, Co-Learn, and Ignite – different experiences and digital events will be curated, each focussing on different elements of Burning Man’s famed culture and creative ethos. Virtual parties, performances, screenings and talks will take place on the channel, with Burning Man fans and community members being able to get involved and host their own events as well as enjoying those curated by Burning Man itself.
