Batu shares new track, ‘Other Means’: Listen

Batu has released a new song, ‘Other Means’.

Out via A Long Strange Dream, the imprint that the UK DJ and producer launched in 2023 as an outlet for his own productions, the new cut marks the first of a series of standalone single releases of club tracks by the artist which will continue through 2024.

Writing on social media, Batu, real name Omar McCutcheon, said ‘Other Means’ was produced at around the same time as the tracks on his 2023 EP ‘For Spirits’, which marked the inaugural release on A Long Strange Dream.

“With this one, I was trying to marry a dark, heads-down club weight with flourishes which are more delicate, organic and trippy,” McCutcheon said. “I’m really interested in finding new ways of merging aesthetics from the more psychedelic end of techno and bassy sounds. I love exploring this world and finding new pockets which feel fresh.”

You can listen to ‘Other Means’ below, and get it on Bandcamp here.

Last month, Batu released ‘half speed’, a four-tracker of ambient-focused experiments via A Long Strange Dream.
