Alison Wonderland releases graphic novel inspired by her ‘Loner’ album

Alison Wonderland has released a graphic novel inspired by her third album, ‘Loner’. 

Dealing with themes around loss, isolation, and grief, the record itself arrived early May, and has its origins in Covid-19 lockdowns, a period of time in which the artist was struggling personally, previously describing how “something pulled everything out from under me.” 

Now a visual story complete with playable RPG module thanks to Z2 Comics — who have previously created graphic novels with Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, Rico Nasty, Chuck D of Public Enemy, and Gorillaz — Wonderland explained on Twitter the format allowed her to “delve into ‘Loner”s themes using horror, sci fi and fantasy.”

The narrative was co-written by publishing house founder Sridhar Reddy, with interior art credited to Kelsey Ramsay, BRÄO, Taylan Kurtulus, Minomiyabi, and Alex Heywood, the latter having also created the cover. Soft and hardback pre-orders of the book are now being taken, with copies expected to ship in January 2023.
