A$AP Rocky on new album: “I’ve pushed myself to the limit on everything”

A$AP Rocky has spoken about the creative process behind his new album, hinting at a change in sound and admitting “I’ve pushed myself to the limit on everything”.

Speaking about the hotly anticipated follow-up to his 2018 LP ‘Testing’ in a recent interview with Dazed, the rapper said: “One thing I can tell you is that the name isn’t gonna be ‘All Smiles’ – you know, I never publicly said that my album was called ‘All Smiles’. That one is more of a concept project, it’s music and more.

“I’m wrapping up the new album now; I’ve been shooting so many visuals for it,” he continued. “I don’t want to be cliché or sound like a salesman, but I’ve pushed myself to the limit on everything. Going from that industrial, subversive sound from ‘Testing’ and then graduating with a more polished sound… I just like where it is,”

Rocky also discussed his relationship with Rihanna, musing on their joint sense of style. “I think it’s just natural. We happen to look good together naturally,” he said.

Last month, the Grammy-nominated rapper released a new single, ‘D.M.B.’ (an acronym for Dat’s My Bitch’) accompanied by a love-themed video starring Rihanna. Rocky and Rihanna recently became first-time parents.
