A Tribe Called Quest share details of posthumous Phife Dawg album

A Tribe Called Quest have shared details of the posthumous album from founding member Phife Dawg.

‘Forever’ will arrive on 22nd March, six years after the iconic rapper, real name Malik Taylor, died from diabetes-related complications at the age of 45. He had just finished work on the crew’s sixth and final album, ‘We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service’.

Appearances from Q-Tip, Maseo and Pos of De La Soul, Redman, and Busta Rhymes have all been confirmed for the forthcoming record, alongside Rapsody, Renée Neufville, V. Rich. Nottz, Khrysis, DJ Rasta Root, ULTMT, Baby Ozuna, G-Koop, Angela Winbush, Illa J, Little Brother, Darien Brockington, The Roux, and Luke Austin. Phife Dawg’s mother, the acclaimed poet Cheryl Boyce-Taylor, also features.

The album includes the track ‘French Kiss Deux’, which was unveiled last year, with the full released completed using notes left by Phife, detailing how his then-unreleased work might sound as a completed LP. At the time of writing, only the 13-strong tracklist, credits and artwork — with photography by Julien Liverpool and design by Frank William Miller, Junior, and FWMJ — have been unveiled, with all news announced on Twitter.
