UAD goes native, adds subscription model

UAD goes native, adds subscription model

Universal Audio has announced Spark, a new subscription model that lets users access their revered plugins without owning any UAD DSP hardware. Spark adds some of the most popular UAD plugins to a subscription model costing $19.99 a month. It also adds a new synth called Opal as well as existing synths like the Model D clone and the Ravel Piano.

Up until now, UAD plugins required an additional piece of UAD hardware that powered the plugins, taking the processing power off your computer’s CPU. This is the first time it’s been possible to run UAD plugs from your computer’s internal processor. Spark includes Neve 1073 Preamp and EQ, UA 1176 Compressor Collection, Teletronix LA-2A Compressor Collection, Studer A800 Tape Recorder and API Vision Channel Strip.

Spark costs $19.99 a month and there’s a 14-day free trial. Find out more on the UA website.
