Overmono release new track, 'Gfortune': Listen

Overmono have released a new track, called ‘Gfortune’.

The song is the second cut to be unveiled from the duo’s forthcoming EP ‘Cash Romantic’, which was announced earlier in March alongside the unveiling of the track ‘Gunk’.

‘Gfortune’ sees the duo in a more meditative place than the club-rooted euphoria of ‘Gunk’ and various EPs that emerged from them last year.

“The idea for ‘Gfortune’ was to make something that sounds like it’s gonna fall apart at any minute,” the duo said in a statement. “Like it’s broken, but in a beautiful way, kinda like ‘Bad Boy’ by Frankie Knuckles and Jamie Principle.

“To our ears, a lot of those old Chicago tunes have that feel to them; there’s a vibe to those records that’s stone cold and something we always go back to.”

‘Cash Romantic’ will be released by XL on 8th April. Listen to ‘Gfortune’ below.

The new EP follows on from the two-tracker ‘Diamond Cut/Bby’, which came out last November.
