Asna shares video for new single 'Abissa' feat. AnyoneID: Watch

Abidjan artist Asna has dropped a video for her new single, ‘Abissa’.

The track, a collaboration with Paris-based artist AnyoneID, follows on from Asna’s 2021 debut single, ‘Atalaku, and, like that track, has been released through French label Blanc Manioc.

Speaking about ‘Abissa’ in a statement, Asna said: “African rhythms and traditions integrate an infinite number of equations, which the electronic universe allowed me to explore and experience through my first track, ‘Atalaku’. The need for a sincere and unfiltered cultural reappropriation then became an obsession.

“For this second single, I had a revelation when I heard the N’dombolé (sacred drum) during the Abissa (celebration of the N’zima New Year). I felt teleported to a Berlin rave, as its organic rhythms and textures reminded me of techno and trance.

“The collaboration with the Parisian producer AnyoneID was then obvious. It gave birth to a UFO, the fruit of our shared vision of hybrid, futuristic and assumed electronic music. This track, ‘Abissa’, is the ultimate avatar of a dream I’ve carried for years: to make electronic music steeped in my African roots.”
