Spotify has launched new DJ mixes

News

Spotify has added DJ mixes to its streaming platform, allowing DJs to add full-length mixes to the service. Initially, the mixes are launching in eight territories, including UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.

The new format launches with mixes from Noisia, AmyElle, Adam Beyer, Shingo Nakamara and MOTi. It’s not yet clear how Spotify’s monetisation process will work for mixes, or who can upload mixes to the platform – given the fact it’s available in eight territories, it’s likely to be a soft launch and more details will be forthcoming.

The move comes off the back of Apple recently announcing that their Music streaming service will allow both content providers, DJs and the artists in their mixes to be paid as if the track was streamed through their regular streaming service.
