DAYTIMERS withdraws from Lost Village and Mighty Hoopla festivals
DAYTIMERS has withdrawn from the Lost Village and Mighty Hoopla events due to the acquistion of the festival’s joint promoter, Superstruct Entertainment, by private equity firm KKR.
The London-based crew, who champion South Asian creativity and musical communities from across the globe, made the announcement on social media earlier this week.
Both Lost Village and Mighty Hoopla are owned by Superstruct, the European event giant established by Providence Equity Partners. Last year, Superstruct was itself bought by two US private equity firms, CVC and KKR & Co.
“DAYTIMERS are withdrawing from all Superstruct events,” the post read. “Superstruct’s parent company KKR, the worlds [sic] second largest private equity firm, is heavily invested in extremely harmful projects across the world.”
“In light of KKR’s acquisitions, DAYTIMERS are dropping all commitments related to Superstruct owned events,” the collective also said on Instagram.
