Chromeo release chrome cassette player and limited edition album tape with We Are Rewind

Chromeo are putting out a limited-edition tape of their new album, ‘Album Contemporary’ alongside a chrome cassette player.

The tape player, which boasts updated features such as rechargeable batteries, is available via French cassette company We Are Rewind while the LP comes equipped with two exclusive bonus tracks.

It is available to buy this month from the We Are Rewind site.

“Chromeo has such a distinct sound and style, so the pressure was on to design a cassette player that captured that,” Romain Boudruche, CEO of We Are Rewind, said in a press statement. “The shiny chrome cassette player is a truly unique music player that’s bound to turn heads and bring back the funk.”

According to a survey carried out by the UK’s biggest vinyl packaging firm Key Production last April, Gen Z are listening to more vinyl, CDs and cassettes than any other age group.

Back in April 2023, it was revealed that cassette sales grew for the tenth consecutive year in 2022 with tapes playing a key role in accounting for more than 10% of record sales for 10 UK No. 1 albums that year.
