Moog synthesiser’s 60th anniversary celebrated at upcoming concert series
A series of concerts is being held at Liverpool’s Capstone Theatre in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the iconic Moog synthesiser.
The Moog at 60: A Celebration runs from 21st November to 24th November. The programme for the events includes a sound installation, a show from Will Gregory Moog Ensemble, and concludes with a tribute to Kraftwerk in celebration of the 50th anniversary of “Autobahn”.
The official anniversary of Robert Moog’s first modular voltage-controlled synth was October 12, 1964, when Moog first demonstrated his pioneering piece of equipment to an audience at the Audio Engineering Society’s New York convention.
A new book documenting the story and influence of the Minimoog was also recently released.
Tickets for individual concerts can be purchased separately, or a ticket for all four evening concerts can be purchased at a reduced rate here. See the full dates and details below.
In 2024, Moog has released number of new pieces of kit, including the flagship analogue poly synth, Muse, the Labyrinth semi-modular synth and the semi-modular filter bank, Spectravox. All of this came a year after Moog Music issued a statement regarding layoffs that impacted “more than half” of its Asheville, NC HQ staff, as well as see some of the company’s product manufacturing move to Taiwan, following its acquisition by InMusic in June 2023.
