Book celebrating London’s independent clubs and music venues crowdfunder launched

A crowdfunder has been launched for a new book celebrating London’s independent clubs and music venues.

Created by UK grassroots venues charity Music Venue Trust (MVT), artist and designer Sophie Mo and music manager Tash Cutts, Sweaty Ceilings will shine a light on 30 venues across the UK, including fabric, Venue MOT, and Corsica Studios.

The text has been written by music journalists such as The Quietus’ John Doran and Will Richards and will be featured alongside archive photography, original illustrations, posters and memorabilia.

You can support the Sweaty Ceilings crowdfunder here. As the blurb explains, each pledge to the crowdfunder will also include a donation to the MVT.

The book arrives at a tumultuous time for the UK’s live music market, with a recent report by the Music Venue Trust revealing that over a third of independent music venues in the UK are operating at a loss.

Last year, Ticketmaster launched the option for fans to donate directly to the MVT.
