Danielle Moore, Crazy P frontwoman, dies aged 52

Danielle Moore, vocalist, songwriter and frontwoman of UK house music act Crazy P, has died. The news was shared on the band’s Instagram page on the morning of Monday 2nd September.

“We are devastated to announce the unbelievable and shocking news that our beautiful Danielle Moore has died in sudden and tragic circumstances,” the post read. “This happened on Friday afternoon on August 30th.”

“We cannot believe the news ourselves and we know it will be the same for all of you. She gave us so much, and we love her so much. Our hearts are broken… She lived the biggest of lives. We will miss her with all our hearts.”

The band has cancelled all upcoming shows, and are taking time to process the devastating news. At the time of writing, the cause of Moore’s death has not been disclosed. She was 52.

Over more than 25 years, Crazy P have established themselves as a much-loved live house and disco act. Initially a studio project formed in Nottingham in the late 1990s, Crazy P became a live act and signed to the Manchester-based deep house label Paper Recordings. They later signed to Ralph Lawson’s 2020 Vision imprint, and later !K7 Records as their live show saw them tour the world. Their latest album, their eighth — ‘Age Of The Ego’ — was released in 2019.

2011’s ‘When We On’ was a significant breakthrough for Crazy P internationally, and perhaps their biggest song ‘Like A Fool’ — from their ‘Walk Dance Talk Sing’ album — brought their sound to a new generation. They toured constantly, playing festivals including Defected Croatia and Lost Village last month, amongst other shows.

Moore was a captivating singer and live performer who fronted the band, as well as DJing at shows as the Crazy P Soundsystem. She will be sorely missed by the international dance music community.
