The xx are “having a good time” working on “difficult” new album, says Jamie xx
The xx are “having a good time” working on their new album, according to Jamie xx.
Back in January, it was revealed that the London trio – comprising Jamie xx, Romy and Oliver Sim – were working on the long-awaited follow-up to their 2017 LP, ‘I See You’.
Now, Jamie xx has spoken about how the album recording process, which comes amidst the lead-up to his own highly-anticipated second solo album, ‘In Waves’.
Speaking with MistaJam on Capital Dance’s evening show, the DJ and producer said: “It’s always so nice to get back together with them. I mean, they came on stage with me at Glastonbury as well, and I couldn’t stop smiling. I was aware that I was on TV, but I just felt like such a dork.
“It was a really lovely moment,” he added. “And we’ve been in the studio again recently and it just feels like old times. it’s early days [but] we’re having a good time.”
In response to MistaJam saying, “I’d love to hear what that is going to sound like,” Jamie xx responded: “Me too. Yeah, I have no idea.”
“I think that was the idea of us going out and doing our own things,” he added, regarding their solo projects. “So, we’re further apart, I guess, and then when we get back into the studio it is a bit more of a challenge and we have bigger pools to draw from. I think it’s going to be difficult when we get a bit more into it, but ultimately that is going to make the record better.”
