Jamie xx and Robyn share single, ‘Life’: Listen

Jamie xx’s newest single off his upcoming second album, ‘In Waves‘, features Swedish pop star Robyn. Listen to ‘Life’ below.

‘Life’ marks the second preview of the London producer’s long-awaited follow-up to his 2015 solo debut LP, ‘In Colour‘, after lead single ‘Treat Each Other Right‘ was released alongside the album announcement earlier this month. It’s also a rare new release for Robyn following her 2018 comeback album ‘Honey’, having shared only a few other collaborations since (a ‘Buffalo Stance‘ reimagining with Neneh Cherry and Mapei and ‘Impact’ with SG Lewis and Channel Tres’).

“I made this track pretty fast (for me) and I loved it from day one”, Jamie xx said in a press statement. “When I first heard Robyn’s vocal it was at 6 AM after finishing playing at Pacha in Ibiza, it was the perfect moment. Robyn and I have spent time working together and hanging out for some years now, it’s always a joy and always inspiring, I’m so glad and grateful that she is a part of ‘In Waves’. Thank you Robyn for bringing this track to life!”

Robyn added that she’s excited to see the track come to ‘Life’: “I just want to see how ‘Life’ gets people dancing this summer. I can’t wait for that.”

‘In Waves’ is out 20th September on Young, featuring additional collaborators The Avalanches, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier and Panda Bear, Oona Doherty and The xx bandmates Romy and Oliver Sim. Honey Dijon’s contribution, ‘Baddy On The Floor‘, was released this past April.

Jamie xx has an Alexandra Palace headline date scheduled for 26th September. He wrapped up a ten-night residency at South London’s Venue MOT in May.

In the nine years since ‘In Colour’, Jamie xx had only released solo material in 2022, with ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN‘ and ‘KILL DEM’, and in 2020, with ‘Idontknow‘.
