Groove Armada announce new EP, ‘Free Jam’, on Defected’s DFTD

Groove Armada are releasing a new EP, titled ‘Free Jam’, on Defected sub-label DFTD.

The British duo of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay have signed a “long-term deal” to release on Defected and Glitterbox Recordings. The two-track EP, out this Friday, 24th May, will be the first release in that relationship. It features Kathy Brown on the title track and Slarta John on the closer ‘New Kind of Drama’.

“‘Free Jam’ was born in a Byron Bay hotel room after a sweat-soaked house session the night before”, Cato said in a press statement. “It’s a return to those late-night moments of house euphoria, love, and warm Red Stripe at the free parties where Tom and I began… It’s lovely to be back in the house groove where everything started, and to be there as part of a Defected family who are taking the ethos of the original house party worldwide.”

In 2020, Groove Armada released ‘Edge of the Horizon‘ — their first album in 10 years — featuring the ‘Lover 4 Now’ single with Todd Edwards. They celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2022 with a special box set and single with Red Rat called ‘Hold A Vibe‘.
