Premiere: Isaac Carter & Callum Asa ‘Drift feat. LUA’

Isaac Carter and Callum Asa have linked up for a new EP, ‘Both Sides’, on the former’s OCHI imprint. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Drift’ below.

On their debut collaboration, the London-based producers tap into a cornucopia of club-wise sounds – from the deep house wares regularly shelled on Carter’s Rinse FM show to the brawny UK bass of Asa’s recent single with Temptress, ‘Rewind’. The result is three future-facing steppers with a big-tent appeal, tied together by taut grooves, east coast house motifs and pin-point percussion.

Speaking to DJ Mag about the project, Carter shared: “‘Both Sides’ conceptually is about myself and Callum Asa, who typically operate in different ‘scenes’ coming together to create a balanced body of work.”

“I think the EP ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to a club-orientated release,” he continued. “You’ve got a straight banger, a euphoric roller and then something more percussive/ progressive for the heads. This is a meshing of US inspired house music and more UK percussive sounds.”

The project is the latest release on OCHI, Carter’s label and party series turned radio show, and a hotbed for deep, soulful and always danceable club transmissions. Listen back to his latest Rinse show, featuring Aleqs Notal, here.

Both Sides’ is out 14th May via OCHI. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to ‘Drift’ below.
