Reinier Zonneveld to play b2b with AI version of himself at R² festival

Reinier Zonneveld is set to play b2b with an AI version of himself at R² festival in the Netherlands.

The AI model has been trained on over 2000 hours of the Dutch artist’s original music and recordings from more than 1000 live shows and dynamically responds to Zonneveld’s input, “as in a real back-to-back between two people, co-creating music live onstage in collaboration with me,” he says.

The b2b is booked for the main stage of the brand new festival, which is taking place Spaarnwoude park on 17th August and also features seven other stages, including one in tribute “to the illegal rave movement” and an audio-visual experience created by Speedy J. Zonneveld’s Filth on Acid label will also curate a stage.

“I believe AI has the potential to significantly elevate the standard of creative output by enabling the creation of productions beyond our human imagination. When utilised well in music, it opens doors to completely new possibilities, leading to more creative and ambitious results and ways of making and playing music,” adds Zonneveld.

In 2023, Zonneveld was voted No. 27 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll. Last year, he set the new Guinness World Record for the longest solo electronic music live set, playing for a total of 11 hours and 11 minutes.
