Manumission co-founder announces weekly Pikes Ibiza party this summer
Pikes Ibiza has announced a new party series spearheaded by Andy Manumission, taking place on Mondays throughout the summer.
Andy Manumission & Pikes Ibiza present MONDAYS will take place weekly from 29th April to 19th August, and aims revive the essence of the original Manumission club nights, which dominated the White Isle scene during the ’90s.
Andy Manumission, aka Andy McKay, owner of Pikes, co-founded the original club series three decades ago alongside Claire and Mike Manumission. Read DJ Mag’s long-read feature and photo piece on the hedonistic early years of Manumission, featuring an interview with Claire, here.
According to a press release for the new series, all line-ups will remain unannounced, set times won’t be clear-cut, and if guests film, a curtain will be drawn around the DJ booth, encouraging clubbers to fully immerse themselves in the experience. Organisers encourage a no-photos on the dancefloor policy, and guests will be given name tags at the door to encourage social interaction.
Speaking on the announcement Andy Mckay said: “Returning to my alter ego Andy Manumission has sent memories flooding back. It’s great to remember the cultural significance of that Manumission era and I am very excited about kicking back against the DJ worship era and returning to a party where the focus is the people and the dance floor. I feel the values of that time are missed so let’s bring them back.”
In 2022, promoter Claire Manumission published a memoir recounting the iconic club nights.
