Cypress Hill to perform with London Symphony Orchestra, recreating The Simpsons cameo, this summer

Cypress Hill are set to perform with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) this summer at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Taking place on 10th July, the performance will bring a joke made on The Simpsons way back in 1996 to life, in which the legendary hip-hop outfit inadvertently invited the LSO to join them for a live show while they were under the influence.

The two acts will come together to perform Cypress Hill’s seminal album ‘Black Sunday’, as well as other hits, with tracks like ‘Insane In The Brain’ and ‘I Wanna Get High’ appearing with new orchestrally-aided arrangements.

Tickets will go on sale at 10am GMT on Wednesday, 27th March via this link.

In a statement, Cypress Hill said: “We are thrilled to be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra in such a prestigious venue as the Royal Albert Hall. It’s a dream come true, a collaboration only The Simpsons could have predicted.”

Kathryn McDowell DBE, the LSO’s Managing Director, added: “After years of social media teasing it, many fans may have started to believe it would only be a pipedream – but the LSO is delighted to finally be joining Cypress Hill on stage and in person, and look forward to creating an unforgettable musical moment! Many thanks to the creators of The Simpsons for the idea and to AEG Artisitc and PolyArts for making it all happen.”

Cypress Hill performed three symphonic shows across the US last year, but this gig at Royal Albert Hall marks the first time they have played with the LSO, who were the focus of The Simpsons’ original gag.
