Oscar #Worldpeace announces new album, ‘Mum, Pray For Your Son’, shares single: Listen

Oscar #Worldpeace has shared details of his new album, ‘Mum, Pray For Your Son’.

Due out on 19th April, the new record is described as a first-person document of the Tottenham-born artist’s past few years as a son, husband and father. It draws on elements of ’90s hip-hop and ’00s R&B across its various tracks.

Reflecting on his own upbringing and how it has made him who he is today, the artist explores themes of faith, fatherhood and married life over the course of the record, while there are features for West London MC Bawo, Montréal trio Planet Giza and London singer Qendresa, who appears on the lead single, ‘Heaven’.

“I’ve had the title since 2018 but I needed to live the life as a parent and a husband for the title to start clicking,” Oscar #Worldpeace said in a statement about ‘Mum, Pray For Your Son’. “It’s reflective of me growing up; my mum and dad parenting me and sharing stories with me, which I then transfer to my son.

“I was a little scared about putting something like this out at first, because you toy with the idea of catering to what’s popular out there. But I started making music because my favourite artists gave me stories and feelings to last a lifetime. That’s how I came in the game, so I had to take myself back to that essence. That’s what ‘Mum, Pray For Your Son’ stands for.”

In October, Oscar #Worldpeace released the single ‘Never Know’.
