Waajeed announces new album on Tresor with Underground Resistance remix: Listen

Detroit-based DJ and producer Waajeed has shared details of a new album, ‘Memoirs Of Hi-Tech Jazz’, which will be released via Tresor.

Due out on 25th November, the 12-track album draws on Detroit techno and jazz music, and also includes a remix by Underground Resistance. Saxophonist De’Sean Jones contributes to the record, in addition to vocal turns from Black Nix and Wanika K. Stephens, the Archpriest Reverend of San Francisco’s Church of John Coltrane.

The new record marks Waajeed’s first full-length effort for Tresor, and follows on from 2018 LP ‘From The Dirt’, which he put out on his own label, Dirt Tech Rack. On ‘Memoirs Of Hi-Tech Jazz’, Waajeed is said to take inspiration from Black revolutionary efforts against oppressive systems that exist in Detroit and further afield.

You can watch a video for lead track ‘Motor City Madness’ below.

The release of Waajeed’s album on Tresor comes amid a flurry of activity from the Berlin label and club as it marks its 31st anniversary this year. A book exploring the book’s early years was announced earlier this month.
