These are the winners of DJ Mag's Best of North America awards 2022

DJ Mag has announced the winners of its Best of North America Awards 2022 during an Awards Party at Kings Hall (Avant Gardner), Brooklyn on 16th June.

Across 16 categories, DJ Mag’s Best of North America awards seek to celebrate the wide spectrum of sounds being created by artists from the United States and Canada*, with 50,000 music fans casting their votes in this year’s poll.

In this year’s edition of the awards, Chicago-born DJ, producer and label head, Green Velvet, scooped the award for Best DJ, with tech-house’s latest star, John Summit, taking the Breakthrough DJ award.

San Francisco-born ZHU won Best Live Act, while Anjuna affiliate Lane 8 picked up the award for Best Producer, and Nikki Nair took home the Breakthrough Producer award.

The Best Album and Best Compilation awards were taken home by AceMoMa for their album ‘A Future’, and Juke Bounce Werk for its V/A compilation, ‘Juke Bounce Werk presents: JBDUBZ vol. 9’, respectively.

Nervous Records scooped the award for Best Label, with NYC’s Kindergarten Records claiming the Breakthrough Label title.

Elsewhere in the music categories, Louie Vega and Robyn won  Best Track for their uplifting cut, ‘All My Love’, and J Worra scooped the award for Best Remix with her edit of ZHU & partywithray’s ‘Zhudio54’.

New York venue Brooklyn Mirage & Avant Gardner won the Best Large Club award, with neighbouring Brooklyn venue Good Room taking home the Best Small Club award. Long-running, LA-founded party A Club Called Rhonda won the award for Best Club Series.

DJ and producer Lauren Flax, who launched Last Night A Deejay Saved My Life — a harm reduction programme that is saving clubbers’ lives — won in the Underground Hero category, which aims to celebrate the champions of grassroots music communities.

This year’s editorial choice award for Outstanding Contribution to music has been awarded to New York native Danny Tenaglia.
