Semibreve announces KMRU, Jana Rush, BLEID, more for 2022 festival

Semibreve has announced the dates for its 2022 edition, and revealed the first names on its festival programme. 

The experimental electronic music festival returns to Braga in north-west Portugal from 27th – 30th October this year for its 12th edition, with a programme of music, talks, workshops and installations set to take place in various venues across the city. 

Among the acts confirmed for the festival’s concert programme so far are Kenyan sound artist KMRU, Portuguese contemporary percussion ensemble Drumming GP and French experimental musician Félicia Atkinson, who will play a collaborative live set with Portuguese flutist and electronic artist Violeta Azevedo. Alva Noto will also present an audio-visual live show based on his ninth album, ‘Unieqav’.

Semibreve’s late-night clubbing programme will feature artists including Planet Mu affiliates Jana Rush and Gábor Lázar, as well as Lisbon’s BLEID. One night will be dedicated to Lisbon’s Príncipe Discos collective, with DJ sets from Xexa, DJ Marfox and DJ Kolt.

Venues taking part in Semibreve include the the UNESCO World Heritage site Bom Jesus, the Theatro Circo, contemporary arts space gnration, the Capela Imaculada chapel and the University of Minho’s medieval saloon.
