New record store, Disk Frisk, to open in Bristol this month

Bristol is getting a new shop devoted to second-hand records.

Disk Frisk will open its doors on 14th May at 4 Sommerville Road, just off Gloucester Road. To mark the opening, the store will host a free all-day opening event, featuring DJ sets from the team behind record label Dar Disku, Noods Radio residents Millie McKee and Tim Lawson, and a special guest.

In February, Kane Orchard and Corey Miller – who DJ in Bristol as Kayne the Hermit and Morey Ciller respectively – announced plans to open Disk Frisk as a physical shop space having previously sold records online. The shop will specialise in records dating from the 1970s through to the early 2000s.

“We’ve been working hard on getting the space ready and can’t wait to welcome you all here,” Orchard and Miller said in a social media post trailing the store’s grand opening.

Elsewhere in Bristol, a brand new festival will take place at Clifton Downs this September. The inaugural edition of Forwards will host the Chemical Brothers, Jamie xx and more.
