A counselling bursary scheme has been launched for Black, Asian and minority ethnic workers in the UK music industry. 

Five bursaries of up to £3000 are available, with the money going towards the applicant training to become a counsellor or psychotherapist. 

BAPAM (the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine), Help Musicians and PPL, the UK music industry’s collective management organisation, are behind the scheme.

The money will enable the applicant to undertake training to become a psychotherapist or counsellor. The training is accredited by the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), BABCP (British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies) or BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists).

A mental health professional will be provided by BAPAM to oversee the scheme, which aims to improve diversity, equality and inclusion. The professional will also make sure training placements are supervised and managed correctly.

Applications are open until December 16th.
