Rapper Son of Mars Talks About His Music Journey and Success

Stephon Peters-Smith popularly known as Son of Mars is a talented rapper and musician in the US. He was born and brought up in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to New York at 17. In 2018, Mars pursued his musical dreams, and his college, the University of Rochester, played a key role. He recorded his first EP, S.O.M., in college, and the track is very close to his heart. Eventually, he followed his heart and focused on creating more music.

Rapper Son of Mars’ musical style blends Caribbean Soca and Hip-hop. Some of his songs that have become big hits are Anakin, Mrs Chosen One, Fitted and many more. The success of these songs in 2022 encouraged Mars to do a National North American tour – Pandora Box Vol 1. During his tour, the rapper treated his fans with several unreleased songs from his upcoming album. The tour also included some special guests. The response was humongous, and the tour that started in mid-summer went on till October.

As an independent artist, reaching this stage in my professional life took a lot of work. The rapper faced several challenges in his career but kept them from affecting his goals. When asked how he overcame hurdles in his career, Son of Mars revealed, “The biggest challenge was underestimating how expensive recording can be. To get the quality product that you see in your head to match what your hearing can be pricey. The challenging part of this is that there is no guarantee of a return on investment for anyone involved.”

He added, “Overcome it by making and recording music for the love of the art and not necessarily make it big. Overcoming that obstacle allowed me to become more creative.”

Now, big news for all the Son of Mars fans. The rapper is soon going to announce his new music tour. He has plans to perform in July 2023 in Indianapolis and New York. The artist will soon update more details about his tour on his social media.
