Rezz Shares Pictures Of Her Cute New House And One Room Does Not Match The Others...

Filed by Donte DishnerDonte Dishner

As most producers begin to succeed in their careers new and exciting purchases are common. Afrojack and Deadmau5 always go for the supercars, Steve Aoki and Zedd have indulged in super mansions. Rezz has had an unbelievable past few years. Breaking onto the scene with exciting and forward-thinking sound design, being championed by the likes deadmau5, releasing a stunning hit a debut album and with another one on the way, she deserves to have a little fun with a big purchase.

Rezz’s New House!

Rezz shared some new pictures her adorable new house. It is sleek, cute, and very homey. I never quite understood the allure an over the top house, so I think Rezz went with the perfect little abode. Most the design is minimal and clean but then all a sudden the last picture throws f the theme!

It appears to be her studio and possibly a bedroom. It is clearly the only room in the house she has gotten a chance to decorate or has decided to devote to all her personal artwork and accomplishments. The juxtaposition is definitely noticeable! Regardless, we want to congratulate Rezz once again for this awesome new purchase. We cannot wait to hear the first single f her forthcoming sophomore effort this Friday!

[Exclusive Interview]: Andrew Rayel Celebrates 100 Episodes of Find Your Harmony Radio

Filed by Donte DishnerDonte Dishner

A decade ago, the EDM bubble was growing. It definitely hadn’t burst, but it was on the verge explosion. If you had blown a bubble out chewing gum with your mouth, EDM would be the nearly transparent surface that gum, millimeters from your nose ready to unhinge from the threads holding its shape with the next burst air. It was when EVERYONE was a DJ and it was a glorious time.

It was also around that time that some today’s longest-running EDM-focused radio shows and podcasts were starting up. The list was small, but it was something new. Very few artists dared to even toy with the idea producing a radio show without knowing the size their audience, let alone broadcast it to the world.

Fast-forward to today where EVERYONE has a radio show. In a saturated market, with not only artists showcasing their broadcasting abilities, but also regular joes with internet access, it is difficult to stand out from the crowd.

Enter Andrew Rayel. The hottest name to come out the trance music scene in the last five years, Rayel has captivated audiences with his high-energy live sets and melodic music productions. In 2014, Rayel jumped on that radio show bandwagon with Find Your Harmony. He set himself apart by combining the latest in trance music with the same intensity heard at his festival sets.

In September, Rayel founded his record label, inHARMONY Music, which has produced tracks from names like David Gravell, Mark Sixma, and i_o. One those releases, “Trance Reborn” with David Gravell, happens to be the anthem for his 100th episode celebration the radio show he started in 2014. The centennial came with not one, but TWO sold-out shows— one in his home country Moldova, and the other in Los Angeles.

It is at the Los Angeles show, which was held inside the newly remodeled Academy Nightclub, where we caught up with Andrew Rayel and chatted on not only about the festivities but also on the success his record label. The sold-out event saw the venue packed to capacity the entire night and included a live performance from Haliene, who partnered with Rayel in “In The Dark”, which debuted that night.

Q: You’re celebrating 100 episodes Find Your Harmony Radio. Congratulations! You started celebrating in your home country Moldova, how was that?

A: It was absolutely incredible! We sold out the venue and we broadcast it live so fans around the world could celebrate with us. I wanted to celebrate in Moldova because it’s where everything started for me. A big part my team is also from Moldova so it was a perfect location.

Q: What made you decide on Los Angeles as the second spot for your celebration?

A: I have a lot fans here in L.A. and I felt like it would be a great place to get as many my fans to join me. Also, we had a lot help from Insomniac and they’re based here. They have this great club here and it was another perfect location with a perfect partnership.

Q: Talk to me about that partnership with Insomniac Events. I know you were just in Las Vegas last week and played during EDC Week, even though you did not play the actual festival this year.

A: This year I was part EDC week and I played one the ficial parties at Marquee Day Club. I did not play the festival this year, but I have played plenty EDC’s in the past. Every artist needs a break from the festival because if you play every year, you burn out and you don’t give yourself a chance to grow. Insomniac does a great job always keeping their lineups fresh and bring in new names to make unique experiences.

Q: Were you still able to feel some that EDC energy even though you weren’t at the festival?

A: Absolutely! Actually, some my colleagues sent me a few videos Armin van Buuren when he played one my tracks during his set. I definitely felt like I was there.

Q: Explain to me how tonight’s show will be different than a typical Andrew Rayel show.

A: Find Your Harmony has plenty tracks from my record label because its what I am going to show to my fans. Its different from what I normally play at a festival, which is more big room sounds. This is more trance, very pure and melodic, very deep. No commercial stuff and plenty IDs from the label.

Q: Speaking your record label, inHARMONY Music, you’re now half a year in— has it been difficult or easier than expected to handle your own label?

A: Way better! In the beginning, I thought it would be really hard to find demos and tracks and that’s why I launched and prepared a bunch tracks for the debut the label. It didn’t even take a month and I had already signed tracks for three months. We are now booked until September.

It’s funny because I’m a pretty open guy so it was hard for me to pick and choose what tracks we’re going to be promoting. Every time I called into Armada, they would help me out in filtering the tracks. I would end up sending them 30 tracks and they’re like, “hold on, let’s pick the best the best the best.” We’re promoting about 3 tracks a month and that’s about as much as we can do.

Q: You stated that tonight’s show would have a more euphoric trance sound. Is that what we can expect your music to sound like from now on?

A: Always! I’ve never actually gone away from those sounds. I was inspired by different things last year that caused me to try different things with my music. I want to keep FYH sounds very unique and separate from my other shows, so I will always continue to produce melodic trance sounds. With FYH, I want fans to know that there will be a specific music they will hear at FYH shows that won’t be the same as other shows.

Q: We’re only 100 episodes in, what is your goal with Find Your Harmony Radio? Would you like it to be as big as Armin van Buuren’s A State Trance, who is nearing 1,000 episodes?

A: Obviously, I would love for the radio show to grow as big as ASOT and have a big yearly celebration in a big venue, but it’s gonna take some time to get there. At this point, I just want to share all the music— not just my own, but from the label as well— with as many people as I can.

I honestly have no idea where this is going. I don’t want to think about it as, “I want to reach this many episodes, or do this or that…” because that’s not how things work out. Every time you want to recreate something it never happens, you just have to keep doing your own thing. I just want to go with the flow and if it grows into something huge I’ll be happy to share it with everyone. If it doesn’t I would have still been proud because I’m doing something I love and that my fans love too.

Richie Hawtin is breaking his 6-year Berghain drought this month

Filed by Antonio AlbertyAntonio Alberty

For any die-hard Richie Hawtin fans out there, you could safely assume catching the veteran selector at one the most notorious nightclubs in the world would be quite the experience. Well, it’s happening again for the first time in 6-years!

After a long hiatus from Berghain, Hawtin will make a triumphant (hopefully) return to the Berlin stronghold on June 29th, playing alongside Panorama Bar resident, Roi Perez. This will be a night to remember, no doubt.

Of course it’s not all fond memories between Hawtin and Berghain, with the Canadian producer/DJ finding himself kicked out the venue back in 2009, leading to a Facebook post from Hawtin wherein he said the club needs “a serious attitude adjustment”.

Thankfully, it looks like the bridges have been built. If you find yourself in Berlin at the end the month, be sure to head along!

Spotify’s new anti-hate policy has been scrapped

Filed by Bunny RobertiBunny Roberti

Major streaming service Spotify recently has reversed their newly added anti-hate policy that saw artists such as XXXTentacion and R. Kelly removed from playlists and editorial.

After a mix responses from the music industry and Spotify users, the policy has been pulled and is to be reassessed. According to a recent from Spotify, “the language was too vague, we created confusion and concern, and didn’t spend enough time getting input from our own team and key partners before sharing new guidelines.”

“We created concern that an allegation might affect artists’ chances landing on a Spotify playlist and negatively impact their future. Some artists even worried that mistakes made in their youth would be used against them”.

They added that they “will continue to seek ways to impact the greater good and further the industry we all care so much about. We believe Spotify has an opportunity to help push the broader music community forward through conversation, collaboration and action. We’re committed to working across the artist and advocacy communities to help achieve that.”

XXXTentacion – who currently faces multiple accusations abuse against women – has been readded to the popular hip-hop playlist, Rap Car. What do you make this decision from Spotify and their plan moving forward? Read the full statement .

Ticket scalping in NSW is now illegal and the fines are hefty!

Filed by Kelli MichelsonKelli Michelson

Let’s face it, dodgy ticket resellers, or ‘scalpers’ suck. Reselling tickets is fine and all, but the people who hike up the price like crazy are just scummy. Plain and simple. Well, it’s over for them now, with new laws being set in place on Friday that make the reselling tickets for over 10% the original price a serious no-no. Hoo-ray!

Fair Work Australia shared the news late last week, writing in a post across their social feeds that “it is now against the law to resell tickets for more than the original ticket cost, plus transaction costs that are capped at 10%”.

Scalpers who do not abide by this law and get caught can now be slapped with a max fine $22,000 for a corporation or $11,000 for individual sellers. Not small change in any way, so hopefully this means your Splendour tickets won’t cost you an arm and leg moving forward.

Breaking: Just A Gent trades in his Top Hat for a Fedora

Filed by Antonio AlbertyAntonio Alberty

B-Side is our latest news section breaking the stories you won’t read about anywhere else. Hard hitting news f the back a truck that we published without fact checking.

Just A Gent has rocked the music world today, announcing he is retiring the Top Hat in place a Fedora.

The Novocastrian – who won best up-and-coming artist at the 2015 Stoney Roads awards – spilled the beans this morning Facebook, explaining that “it is the right time for a change. It’s been at the back my mind for some time now, and in all honesty the fedora seems like the only way forward for my brand.”

Just A Gent has been something a Top-Hat connoisseur for a while now, a look that has become synonymous with his globally recognised brand. But it seems even an artist his calibre can be doubtful at times, and this rather aggressive rebranding has turned a lot heads in the industry and in his fan base.

“I’m not quite sure about it, but I’ve learned to just trust him on this kind stuff” his manager told B-Side, adding that “in all fairness, I was getting over the top hat look anyway, and I’ve been pushing him to lose the hats all together. But alas, he is the artist and I have to respect to creative direction.”

Fans are on the fence with the change, with one expressing her concern for the new look in saying that “the top hat was part the musical experience for me. I’m unsure that I’ll be able to listen to him now that he has a fedora. It just doesn’t feel right.” But some doubts were met with confidence in his decision, with one fan telling us that “Just A Gent knows what he is doing, and if anyone in the dance music spectrum can pull f this noble, gentleman’s cap, it is him.”

More to come. For now, check the rest his tour dates below.

15 Jun – Chinese Laundry, Sydney
22 Jun – Mr Wolf, Canberra
29 Jun – Night Cat, Melbourne
30 Jun – King Street Hotel, Newcastle

Listen To Lykke Li's New Song Co-Produced By Skrillex - 'Two Nights'

Filed by Donte DishnerDonte Dishner

There has been a lot more Skrillex buzz than usual lately. This comes mainly from an ficial remix Pendulum’s classic hit ‘The Island (Dawn)’ being teased around social media by both Pegboard Nerds and the iconic DnB group. While fans eagerly await the release this innovative remix we have a little bit new music from Skrillex this week. While many fans might not be majorly excited by this release as it is not a full on Skrillex tune, it is an interesting collaboration between him, Lykke Li, and Aminé.

Lykke Li – ‘Two Nights’ Featuring Aminé

Lykke Li is possibly best known in the dance music world for a remix her classic, ‘I Follow Rivers’ done by The Magician. That being said the artist is a powerful vocalist, and her latest EP contains two songs that are equally impressive.

The leadf single, a collaboration with rapper Aminé was co-produced by none other than Skrillex. The production elements the track are pretty subtle. Nothing particularly screams that this one was made by Sonny. But all in all, it is a pretty impressive track. Check it out below. Stay tuned for more Skrillex news as it becomes available. We are hoping to hear the ficial remix ‘The Island (Dawn)’ at some point in June!
