Hoodboi Releases Glide feat. Tkay Maidza via Fool's Gold

Filed by Abbey ShoreAbbey Shore

With his latest release, Hoodboi retains his throne as one the most innovative rising producers in the nation’s club scene. The Los Angeles-based producer makes his highly anticipated return to Fool’s Gold Records today with “Glide” feat. Tkay Maidza.

Hoodboi’s 2015 debut EP Palm Reader was a bold leap from the R&B bootlegs that fans first caught wind , ushering him into praise by listeners and critics alike. HYPEBEAST described Hoodboi as “The cream the crop when it comes to young talent currently making noise in Los Angeles.”, while COMPLEX named him as “one the most promising artists in the electronic scene.”

Tkay Maidza is the Zimbabwe-born, Australia-based pop singer who’s been praised by Rolling Stone, Stereogum and Highsnobiety for not only her melodies, but her rhymes. “She’s a better rapper than singer, as evidenced by “Tennies,” an ode to tennis shoes, but the winsomeness her chorus in the M.I.A.-esque “Simulation” should have yielded a hit. The album’s standout jam is “Monochrome,” in which she revels in her ethnicity and rhyme prowess and tells the rich to fuck f. A.S.” – Rolling Stone

“Glide” is a dangerously catchy house tune; a dissonant structure pillared by Maidza’s nostalgic blend the 90’s and today. Check it out below.

Afrojack ft. Stanaj- Bed Roses

Dirty Dutch pioneer Afrojack teams up with rising vocalist star Stanaj on a brand new single called ‘Bed Roses’. This is the first collab between the two and the single sees its release on Wall Records.

Afrojack has clearly been shifting gears into more a mainstream and pop sound. ‘Bed Roses’ features catchy vocals and a slower, more vibey tempo. Stanaj’s vocals are the real deal though. He’s got a vibrant voice, and Afrojack does a masterful job allowing those vocals to shine through. This is definitely not a “dirty Dutch” sounding track, but nonetheless it is catchy. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

A-Trak & Falcons – Ride For Me feat. Young Thug & 24hrs

A-Trak has a long-established reputation for spotting talent early. His first studio sessions with Young Thug date back to 2013, when hugger only had a handful tracks on YouTube. Over the years they accumulated a stack songs, and developed a real friendship, too. Finally ready to start revealing this material, A-Trak chose “Ride For Me” for its jaw-dropping (and possibly jaw-breaking) vocal performance. You’ve never heard Young Thug like this.

His voice is elastic, self-distorted, at times barely human or intelligible, and at other times familiar and bouncy. As a turntablist and sound manipulator, A-Trak was entranced by Thug’s shape-shifting. To round f the song, Trizzy brought in another close friend with an otherworldly voice, Atlanta’s own 24hrs, along with fellow beat innovator (and rising Fool’s Gold star) Falcons on the production tip. “Ride For Me” is a speaker-busting rollercoaster ride that defies traditional song structure and will playlist your whole year.
