Former Spice Girls members Mel B and Melanie C delighted fans in Leeds this past weekend, reuniting on stage for a surprise rendition of the group’s 1997 chart-topping anthem, ‘Spice Up Your Life’.
The performance took place on May 2 at Leeds’ Project House, during a stop on Melanie C’s current UK tour celebrating her ninth solo album, Sweat, which was released on May 1. The appearance marked the first time the two have shared a stage since the conclusion of the Spice Girls’ 2019 reunion tour.
After navigating a brief microphone technical difficulty, Melanie C addressed the crowd, noting the significance of the moment. “It’s so special,” she remarked before the duo launched into the track. The energy in the room was palpable, serving as a nostalgic reminder of the group’s enduring cultural impact.

The reunion comes amidst ongoing speculation regarding the future of the iconic girl group. Melanie C has been vocal about her desire for the band to perform at Glastonbury, describing it as a “bucket list” ambition. “Spice Girls, Pyramid Stage – I like to think that will happen at some point. I’m very strongly manifesting that it will happen,” she recently shared.
While all five members—including Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell—have expressed a collective interest in working together again, no formal plans have been announced for their 30th anniversary in 2026. The group last performed as a full quintet at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony, though they did reunite for a private performance of ‘Stop’ at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration in 2024.
