Tricky Announces New Album ‘Different When It’s Silent’ and 2026 Tour
Trip-hop luminary Tricky has officially announced his return to the solo spotlight with the upcoming album Different When It’s Silent. Set for release on July 17 via his own label, False Idols, the record marks his first full-length solo project since 2020’s Fall To Pieces.
To coincide with the announcement, the artist has shared the lead single, “Out Of Place.” The track features the haunting, ethereal vocals of his longtime collaborator Marta Złakowska and leans heavily into the nocturnal, paranoid atmosphere that has defined Tricky’s influential career. With its frenetic drum patterns and mournful string arrangements, the single serves as a potent reminder of his unique sonic signature.

Since his last solo outing, Tricky has remained prolific, engaging in various collaborative efforts including the Lonely Guest project and Fifteen Days, a collaboration with producer Mike Theis under the moniker Theis Thaws. Last year also saw the release of Out The Way, another joint venture with Złakowska.

In support of the new record, Tricky has confirmed an extensive run of live dates across the UK and Europe. The tour kicks off on May 10 at The Palais in Nottingham, with further stops in Dublin, London, Manchester, and Bristol before moving across the continent throughout June and July.
Reflecting on his legacy in recent years, particularly regarding the 2023 reissue of his seminal debut Maxinquaye, Tricky noted that while he appreciates the record’s enduring impact, he remains acutely aware of the personal toll the creative process took on him at the time.
