Tomorrowland 2026 Implements Fireworks Ban Amid Wildfire Fears

Tomorrowland has confirmed that it will be banning “large-scale” fireworks and utilizing only “limited pyrotechnics” for the remainder of its 2026 edition due to significant wildfire fears. The restrictions were implemented ahead of the festival’s first weekend, following recommendations from local Belgian authorities who cited dry weather conditions as a primary concern for public safety.

Belgium currently remains under a ‘Code Orange’ risk for wildfires, the second-highest alert level available. With the festival’s second weekend now underway, organizers have confirmed that these safety measures will remain in effect until the event concludes on Sunday night, July 26. To maintain compliance with local safety protocols, only the main stage is permitted to use pyrotechnics, specifically restricted to T1 and T2 effects, which are smaller and more easily controlled than standard displays.

Organizers have explicitly stated that the high-altitude fireworks typically associated with previous installments of the festival will not be used this year. Furthermore, the event will undergo daily safety assessments to determine if any pyrotechnic usage remains viable under the evolving weather conditions. Additional safety measures include a total ban on personal barbecues and cooking equipment at the campsite, with attendees instead directed to designated communal cooking areas.

The lineup for the second weekend of the festival features prominent artists including Calvin Harris, ALOK, Mall Grab, and Indira Paganotto. The ongoing heatwave has impacted the broader festival circuit, with events like Defqon.1 in the Netherlands recently forced to cancel due to extreme heat and ‘Code Red’ warnings. As the industry grapples with these environmental challenges, organizers continue to prioritize the safety of visitors and staff above all else.
