TikTok Influencer Gabbie Gonzalez Arrested in Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot

TikTok influencer Gabbie Gonzalez has been arrested following allegations that she attempted to hire a hit man on the dark web to kill former Why Don’t We singer Jack Avery. The 24-year-old content creator, known for her lifestyle and motherhood-focused social media presence, was taken into custody in Northern California last week.

According to county jail records, Gonzalez was booked into the Humboldt County jail in Eureka on May 15. She has since been charged in Los Angeles County alongside her father, Francisco Gonzalez, and a Hawaii-based surf instructor, Kai Cordrey. All three individuals face charges related to their alleged involvement in the conspiracy. Custody records indicate that Gabbie Gonzalez is currently being held without bond.

The alleged plot reportedly emerged from a protracted custody and visitation dispute concerning the child shared by Gonzalez and Avery. Investigators claim that Francisco Gonzalez, a Miami-based attorney, became deeply involved in the conflict, allegedly attempting to monitor and remove Avery from the family dynamic. Witnesses reportedly told authorities that Francisco had expressed hostility toward the singer, suggesting that it would be “cheaper if Avery were dead.”

Prosecutors allege that the conspiracy intensified in March 2021 when Francisco began communicating with Cordrey regarding the potential for threats or harassment against the singer. Gabbie Gonzalez is accused of portraying Avery as an “unfit” and “dangerous” father during legal proceedings, while allegedly discussing the possibility of hiring a hit man to resolve the custody dispute. The pair reportedly explored using the dark web and Bitcoin to facilitate the arrangement, even discussing plans to stage the murder as a car accident.

Financial records cited in the affidavit reveal that Francisco Gonzalez allegedly sent $10,000 to Cordrey via the Square app in 2021. While the payment was reportedly disguised as a fee for web-development services, Cordrey allegedly informed investigators that no such work was performed. The investigation eventually led federal agents to deploy an undercover operative posing as a hit man, during which time Francisco allegedly spoke in code and discussed previous Bitcoin payments.

Jack Avery previously addressed the situation in September 2025 during an appearance on the Zach Sang Show, where he revealed that FBI agents had warned him of a credible threat against his life. “Someone hired someone to kill me,” Avery explained during the podcast. “I’ve never talked about this ever. I can’t speak on it a lot.”

Avery, who resides in Hawaii, noted that while his relationship with Gonzalez had been strained, they were working toward a better co-parenting dynamic. “We’re working on it now, but for a while I’d been flying to Hawaii sometimes, and I wouldn’t get to see [my child],” he stated. He also described Gonzalez as an “incredible mom” and emphasized that he was not seeking to shame her.

Gabbie Gonzalez is expected to be arraigned on May 21. Francisco Gonzalez remains in custody in Florida, while the status of Cordrey’s custody remains unclear.
