The Wiggles Admit They Are Unfamiliar with Oasis: “Controversially, I Like Blur More”
The Wiggles have revealed that they aren’t familiar with Britpop legends Oasis, with members admitting they have a surprising preference for the band’s historic rivals, Blur.
The Australian children’s music group made an appearance on Nova 96.9’s Ricki-Lee & Tim radio show to promote their new song ‘Sparkle’. During the segment, the group put their music knowledge to the test by listening to snippets of famous tracks and attempting to identify the artists.

At one point, members Anthony Field and Lucia Field—the father-daughter duo performing as the Blue Wiggles—heard a segment of the classic 1995 Oasis hit, ‘Wonderwall’, but were unable to identify the song. Lucia revealed that she did not recognize the track, and after being informed it was by the Manchester giants, she responded: “Controversially, I like Blur more… that is why I have no idea.”
Her comments reference the legendary rivalry between Oasis and Blur that defined the 1990s music scene. The feud reached its peak in the summer of 1995, as fans debated whether Blur would top the charts with ‘Country House’ or if Oasis would secure the victory with ‘Roll With It’.
After the admission, host Tim Blackwell joked that the blunder was “going to go everywhere.” Anthony Field then clarified that while he was aware of the hit song, his knowledge of the band was limited, even admitting to confusing them with The Beatles in the past. He recalled a trip to Abbey Road Studios with his son, where he accidentally purchased an Oasis souvenir, thinking it featured the Fab Four. “I bought him what I thought was a Paul McCartney and John Lennon poster and he said, ‘They’re the guys from Oasis’… I am so out of touch, mate,” he said.
Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher continues to make headlines, recently fueling rumors of a potential Oasis tour in 2027. The band is also set to enter the Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame later this year, following their successful ‘Live ‘25’ reunion tour.
