Taron Egerton Recruits The Chemical Brothers for ‘Apex’ Soundtrack
Taron Egerton has revealed that he personally wrote to The Chemical Brothers to request the use of their 2015 track ‘Go’ in the new blockbuster film Apex. The song, which originally appeared on the duo’s album Born In The Echoes, has experienced a massive resurgence in popularity following its inclusion in the film, which also stars Charlize Theron.
The track plays a pivotal role in the movie’s narrative, contributing to a significant spike in streaming figures. Data shows that US streams for the song jumped from 92,000 to 487,000 during the week of the film’s release—a staggering 429 per cent increase. Consequently, ‘Go’ has climbed to Number Seven on the UK singles charts, marking the duo’s highest-charting single since 1999’s ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’.
Apex has already been viewed over 80 million times in its first 10 days. It has now been confirmed that the creative decision to feature the track came directly from Taron Egerton, who pitched the idea to director Baltasar Kormákur before reaching out to the electronic pioneers.
In his correspondence with the duo and collaborator Q-Tip, Egerton expressed his long-standing admiration for their work. “I’ve loved your music since my early teens and have seen you perform live several times,” he wrote, noting that his “mind was blown” by their iconic live sets featuring giant floating robots.
Egerton’s pitch was driven by a desire to heighten the intensity of a specific scene. “I’m asking you to let us use ‘Go’ for this scene,” he added. “I feel like I can do something bloody weird and unnerving and disturbing… but I need The Chemical Brothers’ help.”
The success of the track in the charts places it in elite company, sitting alongside recent hits from artists such as Drake, Olivia Dean, and Sam Fender. Meanwhile, Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers continues to balance his legacy work with his new supergroup project, TOMORA, which he formed with AURORA. The pair recently released their debut album Come Closer and have been busy touring, including a high-profile appearance at Coachella 2026.
