Steven Spielberg Makes Surprise Appearance at London Pub Quiz

Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg surprised patrons at The Devonshire in Soho last night, making an unannounced appearance to host a round of trivia focused on his own illustrious career. The director, who is currently preparing for the release of his latest feature film Disclosure Day, arrived alongside actor Colman Domingo to the delight of the unsuspecting crowd.

The event, which was hosted by BBC Radio 1 film critic Ali Plumb, took a surreal turn when the Oscar-winning director stepped in to pose a question directly to the participants. “What was the first science fiction film that I ever made?” Spielberg asked, reading from his phone to a room filled with shocked cheers.

Plumb later took to social media to express his disbelief, writing: “I hosted a Steven Spielberg pub quiz and Steven Spielberg turned up. Yep. I know. I truly, fully know.”

Oisin Rogers, co-owner of The Devonshire, confirmed that the director appeared to have a “lovely time” and thoroughly enjoyed his pint of Guinness while interacting with the attendees.

Disclosure Day marks Spielberg’s first feature film in four years, following his semi-autobiographical project The Fabelmans. The new film sees the director returning to the sci-fi genre, starring Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, and Colin Firth. Early reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with some critics hailing it as the director’s finest work in two decades.

The film is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on June 10.
