Madonna Debuts New Music at Secret ‘Confessions Club’ Event in LA

Madonna debuted music from her highly anticipated new album during a secret, late-night event in Los Angeles, offering fans a first look at the sonic direction of her upcoming project. The invite-only appearance took place at the iconic LGBTQ+ club The Abbey in West Hollywood, billed as ‘Club Confessions Los Angeles’.

Earlier this month, the Madonna announced that her new record, Confessions II, is set for release on July 3. The album serves as a direct sequel to her seminal 2005 dance-pop masterpiece, Confessions On A Dance Floor.

On Saturday night (April 25), the pop icon made a surprise appearance at the DJ booth around 1am. She was joined by producer Stuart Price—who helmed both the original Confessions and this new installment—alongside influencer Addison Rae. The evening also featured performances from Romy of The xx and Mez Monty.

Addressing the crowd, Madonna declared, “Hello children, mutha is here to save you. Are you ready to dance for me? Come on, meet me on the dancefloor. Alright, let’s go gays, come on! Don’t let me down, gays. Gay for the gays! Whoo!”

During the set, Price played the record’s lead single, ‘I Feel So Free’, and debuted two brand-new tracks, including ‘Freedom’. The crowd was also treated to a high-energy mix of ‘Hung Up’, the definitive hit from the original 2005 album.

Addison Rae, sporting a Catwoman-style eye mask, helped hype the crowd throughout the performance. The night also saw Madonna pay tribute to The Abbey owner Tristan Schukraft, leading the room in a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ while playfully interacting with him on stage.

This secret event follows a series of recent teases for the new record. Earlier this month, Madonna made a surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter’s headline set at Coachella, where they debuted a snippet of their collaboration, ‘Bring Your Love’. Confessions II marks Madonna’s first full-length release since 2019’s Madame X.
