Madonna Debuts Euphoric New Single ‘I Feel So Free’ on Pride Radio
Madonna has officially returned to the dance floor, giving her new single ‘I Feel So Free’ a low-key, surprise debut on the LGBTQ+ radio station Pride Radio. The track marks the first offering from her highly anticipated upcoming album, Confessions II, which is slated for a July release.
The new record serves as a direct sequel to her seminal 2005 masterpiece, Confessions On A Dance Floor. Fans had been speculating about new material for some time, and the rollout began in earnest earlier this week when the icon rebranded her official website with a mysterious, atmospheric ambient soundscape.
‘I Feel So Free’ is a hedonistic, deep house music floorfiller that leans heavily into the dance-centric ethos of her mid-2000s work. Lyrically, the track explores themes of vulnerability and the cathartic power of movement, featuring an interpolation of Lil Louis’ 1989 Chicago house classic, ‘French Kiss’. Madonna sings, “It’s really hard for me to trust people / Can you blame me? / I never know why people like me / That’s why I like to go dancing / Safety in numbers.”

The release strategy has been notably unconventional. Rather than a traditional global drop, the song premiered on the iHeartRadio-affiliated station earlier today (April 17) and is scheduled to rotate at the top of every hour throughout the weekend. This intimate approach aligns with the artist’s stated manifesto for the project, which she developed alongside producer Stuart Price.
“When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto: We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies,” Madonna explained. “These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect — with your wounds, with your fragility.”
Confessions II is currently available for pre-order via her official website in both standard 12-track and deluxe editions. As the music industry watches closely, the release promises to be a significant moment for electronic music, bridging the gap between her legendary past and her continued evolution as a pop innovator.
